Bolante arrives in Manila

Northwest Airlines flight 71 bearing former Agriculture undersecretary Jocelyn ‘Jocjoc’ Bolante has landed at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal I (NAIA) at 10:32 p.m., according to radio reports.

In a statement released to the media shortly before his arrival, the controversial government official said he will face the issues hounding him but first he must first seek medical treatment.

Bolante was deported by the US government after it denied his petition for political asylum. He left the country in 2006 at the height of the controversy involving the P728-million ‘fertilizer’ funds, which was allegedly diverted into the campaign fund of President Arroyo in the elections.

UPDATE: Bolante brought to St. Luke’s Medical Center for medical treatment

Upon arrival from the United States this evening, former Agriculture undersecretary Jocelyn ‘JocJoc’ Bolante was brought to the St. Luke’s Medical Center in Quezon City for medical treatment.

Bolante arrived at around 10:32 p.m. at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) via Northwest Airlines flight 71.

In a statement issued to the media, the controversial government official said he has no intention of snubbing the Senate hearings but first he must “seek a medical check-up and treatment due to mainly to the mental and physical stress and ailments brought about due to my detention in the United States.”

Bolante did not speak to the media but vowed to “fulfill my promise of saying my piece, giving my side of the story.” He also said that he is ready to face the issues and all “malicious” accusations against him.
